Four books have been added to those already received at the local Public Library from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. They are: NORTH OF SINGAPORE hy Carveth Wells was written shortly before the present crisis. It is 311 account of a trip starting in Japan leading north to Korea and churia, and then south to Singapore. There are adventures with strange Listen! Don't people, in jungles, in native states, and foreign cities.

Wells links his observation with bits of legends and, history. MY NARROW ISLE by Sumie Se Mishima, The author's story of her struggles as a modern woman in Jannese socioty which is bound by amazing restrictions and limitations. The book is authentic, and pathetically written. Her insight into the fixed customs and loyalties of the older Japanese resulted after the contrasting life she lived in America.
