Redfall's vampires were born of science. These beings vary in power and abilities. In IGN's Redfall vampire guide, you'll learn all about the bloodsuckers you'll meet in the island town and strategies on how to defeat them.

How to Finish a Vampire

Most Vampires in Redfall must be finished off. They won’t die simply by having their health bar depleted. There are a variety of ways to do this. The most common method is to use a weapon with a stake to drive through their heart while they’re attempting to regenerate. However, there are other methods too.

Here’s a list of methods for finishing off a vampire in Redfall:

  • Take their health down until they begin to regenerate, then drive a stake through their heart.
  • Set them on fire. If their health drops to zero while they’re on fire, they’ll die instantly.
  • Use a UV light to petrify them, then shatter them while they’re petrified. UV light can be generated by the UV Gun and by UV light generators that can be found around the map.
  • Hit them with a stake from the Stake Launcher. If it deals enough damage, it will kill them outright.

Every Vampire Type in Redfall

There are a variety of vampire types in Redfall, each with its own unique skill set and powers. Some of them look similar to one another, but they can be distinguished by the names appearing above their health bars. The following lists all of the types of vampires in Redfall.

Vampire

Vampires are the standard undead enemy that you’ll encounter while exploring Redfall. They’re fast, powerful, and they must be finished off to be killed. They attack with their claws mostly, which they swing wildly to create deadly attack combos. They can also teleport, which they do often in and out of combat. They tend to teleport behind you, swing with their claws a few times, and then back off a bit. They repeat this pattern until killed.

Siphon

A Siphon is a unique type of vampire that has different attacks and more health. They must be finished off to be killed. Their primary attack is a medium-range spell that draws health from you to heal themselves. The beam for the spell is constant, but it only does its damage once every few seconds.

Some Siphons will also have an energy shield around them that blocks attacks. You must attack through the openings in the shield to get through. The shield drops when they attempt to regenerate.

Watcher

Watchers are surveillance vampires that don’t attack. Instead, they scan their surroundings for threats. If they discover you, they’ll call all the other vampires in the area to swarm you. They don’t need to be finished off. A shot to the head from any weapon is usually enough to kill them.

Bloodbag

A Blood bag is a vampire abomination that explodes when it dies, dealing damage in an area of effect. They don’t need to be finished off. Bloodbags apear in certain side quests, usually sacrificing themselves for a greater vampire.

Sin-Eater

Sin-Eaters are vampire abominations that can be found during certain missions. They don’t attack, and they don’t need to be finished off. After they’re taken enough damage, they’ll explode and release a Psychic Echo, which you can use to see a bit of dialogue from some disembodied characters.

Shroud

Shrouds are serpentine, narcissistic vampires that can jump in and out of the shadows. When a Shroud appears, she'll first cast a spell of darkness on you. A wide sphere of darkness will surround you and move with you until the fight is over.

The Shroud had a decently powerful ranged attack, and it can dive down into a shadowy vortex that it uses to move around quickly. It must be staked to be killed.

Anglers

Anglers are fairly powerful vampires that can turn invisible. They'll do this to approach you stealthily before impaling you with a harpoon and then taking a bite out of you. While invisible, it's possible to see their glowing red eyes and shadowy form. They are still vulnerable while invisible, and they must be stake to be killed

Rook

Rooks are especially powerful vampires. They do need to be finished off to be killed They appear at certain times in the story and when the “Rook Storm” meter is full. When they do appear, their entrance is accompanied by lightning storms that strike down with devastating lightning damage in an area of effect. It’s best to bait a Rook indoors to fight them. However, they have a powerful melee attack that is best avoided.

Named Vampires

There are a few named vampires that appear randomly or as part of side missions in Redfall. They’re all upgraded versions of one of the basic vampire types. They just have extra health and deal more damage. They almost always drop a pile of ash that can be looted.
