check out:

vlt304 has the firing order for the jackaroo DIS all sorted out for an intech which is the same 153624 as the RB30.

ok its got me f**ked. Tried just about every combination can't get it to run . Just backfires and flames. Sounds like timing it way off. Dont know which information is wrong or right. is it 10btdc or 10atdc for sync , is polarity right, is coil firing right....Really doing my head in....

if the picture is not reversed looks like the sinc is btdc , (i tried still no go) The original post shows both....

Think ill take 5 and come back

My reference angle ended up at 65 degrees in the tune. I am not sure if its supposed to be 60 or 70. I think its on the extra notch, so the 6 notches are 60 degrees apart, and the +1 is 70 degrees. So I think its 70 deg. Keep in mind that with the engine at TDC and the timing mark at 0 degrees, your sensor should be on the extra notch at 70 degrees BTDC. 10 degrees is just for the reluctor pickups, the coilpack 6+1 is different. Use the commodore v6 coil pack tunes to check what they set, even if its a different operating system, its the same family of ecu and trigger.

The VN-VR V6 ones are 60 in the tune but not sure which edge that is. Use a timing light while cranking and just keep adjusting the reference angle until you get the expected 10 degrees BTDC reading on the light.

This picture has the coil firing sequence, A B C

my recommendation would be to put the timing light on the A coil and see where your mark is, then adjust the trigger wheel from there if you have to, once its in the right quadrant, then you can use the reference angle to dial it in.

the issue you will have is that when its cranking it uses the fixed teeth location in relation to the crank to fire, its only once it runs that it uses the reference angle and spark advance.

its been a very long time, but from memory it sees the extra tooth, then skips one and fires on the second one, then skips one and fires on the second one

So had to work today, thinking about whats wrong with this thing.... Got home pulled the plugs, tried to get timing light to work but its not interested. Took leads off and put a wire across the terminals so i could see spark. found that turning over by hand does not get good results. so cranked it on starter and the middle coil not firing. Took it off and slightly bent terminals seemed to fix it. So now all coils are working .but only after several crank rotations does the coil firing pattern look any good.

Thing is i tapped on the metal bar that the sensor is going through and it triggered the coils. Seem like you can wave metal around the sensor even 5cm away and will trigger coils. Im thinking this is a real problem maybe Im getting false triggers all the time?

Have been unable to find an oem picture of a genuine wheel and sensor ... I know some people have had this type of setup working but it's got to make question the things.

Also looking at the motec page above shows a picture of the sensor at what i would say is 0deg tdc. and sync at 10deg is ATDC not BTDC.

My wheel is setup to be 10deg ATDC like the above picture .

the motec one is wrong degree for the delco ecm (firing order ok), sensor should be 60 (regular notch) or 70 (+1 notch) from btdc. the sensor should be really close to the trigger wheel, perhaps 1mm or less gap.

Here are a couple of threads with cars running this trigger and discussion about setup and troubleshooting. First one had a lot of problems but turned out to be a bad module. Others were accuracy of the wheel, positioning, and wiring. I dont have time at the moment to find any particular bit that describes the alignment but hopefully it helps.

And this is a record of how I mapped it out on my engine.

It shows where the 0 degree mark on the engine lines up to, the sensor position is then labeled as 0, because the sensor is physically mounted 60 degreed from the 0 timing mark on block, then the next notch is hmm I guess 60 after TDC, the extra at +70 after TDC. Anyway, it works. It still does my head in, but thats from a running configuration.

So looking at this ... few things to check, firstly like Antus said gap to the sensor, it wants to be probably no more than 1-1.5mm (really depends on the sensor too)

also you want to make sure the slot is the same angle as that centre metal part in the sensor, its hard to see if its just the picture or if that one is slightly turned a bit.

i also did find when playing with this same trigger combination, that having the wires from the CAS to the module reversed changes the timing a fair bit!

This file is one i have which i edited and added some notes to make it more clear!
