WorkSafe Victoria have posted some details about Do your young workers have the training they need?Every day, around200 young workers (aged 15-24) join the workforce, but did you know that they have the highest likelihood of sustaining an injury within the first six months of starting a new job, often due to a lack of experience? WorkSafe’s new ‘Would You Work For You?’ campaign aims to raise awareness of the vulnerability of young workers and employers’ OHS obligations to this at-risk group. Construction is the top industry where young workers make injury claims. Last year, 23% of all claims were made by young workers in the construction industry. Factors that can increase the risk of young workers getting injured at work are:being new to a job or at the start of their careerbeing less familiar with their OHS rights and responsibilitieslack of OHS training and supervisionless experience than others in the workforcefeeling afraid to speak up about OHS mattersnot knowing how to report OHS issues at workbeing pressured by other employees’ unsafe work behaviourThis is a good read and while you are looking at younger workers don't forget us oldie as well. https://lnkd.in/gHXBrgNH

Helping Train Drivers to Apply Non-Technical Skills (NTS) to Avoid Safety IncidentsPsychologists Iffath Ahmed and Dr Stephen Fletcher had the opportunity last week to deliver a 2-day NTS workshop with 6 Train Drivers who have had 1 or more safety-of-the-line incidents. As part of the workshop, they were able to talk through what NTS are all about and share some key OPC evidence that shows using NTS can help improve safety performance and reduce incidents. They then explored 6 key NTS shortfalls that are often associated with Train Driver incidents. The Psychologists had a great time working with the drivers. The feedback from the delegates was positive too - ‘Amazing, ‘Eye-opening’, ‘Riveting’ and ‘Deep’. #NTS #TrainDrivers #safety #rail #

Essential of first Aid training at workplaceFirst Aid training in the workplace is essential for ensuring the health and safety of employees. It equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to provide immediate assistance in case of injuries or medical emergencies. Firstly, it empowers employees to respond swiftly and effectively to accidents, reducing the severity of injuries and potentially saving lives. This quick response can make a significant difference, especially in situations where professional medical help may be delayed. Secondly, First Aid training promotes a culture of safety and preparedness in the workplace. Employees become more aware of potential hazards and risks, leading to proactive measures to prevent accidents from occurring in the first place. This proactive approach not only protects employees but also minimizes downtime and disruption to work activities. Moreover, First Aid training boosts confidence among employees. Knowing that they have the skills to assist their colleagues in emergencies can alleviate anxiety and fear in high-pressure situations. This confidence also fosters teamwork and camaraderie as employees work together to ensure the well-being of their peers.Furthermore, First Aid training fulfills legal requirements and workplace regulations. Employers have a duty of care to provide a safe working environment, which includes having trained personnel capable of administering First Aid when needed. Compliance with these regulations not only avoids potential fines and legal repercussions but also demonstrates a commitment to employee welfare. In conclusion, First Aid training is a crucial component of workplace safety. It empowers employees to respond effectively to emergencies, promotes a culture of safety, boosts confidence, and ensures compliance with legal requirements. Investing in First Aid training is not just a matter of compliance but also a commitment to the well-being and security of everyone in the workplace.www.firstaidtrainings.com9850083500#firstaidtraining
