Bette was born in Atlanta on May 24, 1933, the youngest of five children of the late Thomas Gourrier Ware, Sr. and Mary Alyce Wright Ware. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Gourrier Ware and Edward Wright Ware, and her daughter, Catharine Carmelite Crawley.

Surviving Mrs. Crawley are her husband of 50 years, Lindsey Hurtel Crawley, her sister, Mary Alyce Ware; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles Stone and Patricia Ware; her son, Lindsey Hurtel Crawley, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Eliza Crawley and Alan David Markowitz; numerous nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Catharine Wiles and Nathan Mahone Markowitz. Bette was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and attended Georgia State University. She and her husband Lindsey were married on August 25, 1956. age 87, died Sunday night December 31, 2006 after suffering a stroke on December 25. George was born and raised in Columbus, GA, son of Charles E. and Pearl H. Doughtie. He graduated from the Engineering School of Auburn University at age 19.

George served in World War II as a Captain in the United States Army, 309th Engineer Combat Battalion and was awarded the Silver Star for "gallantry in action against the enemy in Germany, November 20, He fought in eight campaigns including African-Middle Eastern and Central Europe, and the Battle of the Bulge. George worked for Atlanta Sheet Metal Company for 20 years and also for the City of Atlanta Engineering Dept. where he retired after 21 years. Call 404-526-5271 FEDOTA, Joseph JOSEPH HENRY FEDOTA 1 952-2006 Joe, beloved husband of Leslie and loving brother of Mark (Cherie) Fedota, Gary (Sarah) Fedota, and Steve (Joan) Fedota, passed gently from this world on December 29, 2006 after years of proving cancer is no reason not to celebrate life's adventures. Born in Chicago, Joe lived in Atlanta for 24 years. While Joe could think of no place finer than the golf course, he served on the board of the Piedmont Heights Civic Association and as a volunteer Envoy for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, was an avid bridge player, played on a number of soccer, volleyball, and Softball teams, and quenched his love of theatre both on and off the boards. As an IBM employee, he took great pride in implementing client training programs. Joe spent his final years residing in his much loved Cape San Bias, FL.

His zest for life and his courage to endure will be treasured by his friends and family, which include his mother-in law, Jane Harrison, sister-in law, Kimberly (Tony) Garrett, brother-in-law, Peter (Jo) Harrison, nieces Jennifer (Steve) Shaw and Katie Fedota, nephews Matt (Jules) Fedota, John (Laren) Fedota, James Hutchins, Gabe Fedota, Jared Fedota, and Dan Garrett, as well as his grandnieces and grandnephew, Mac-Kenzie, Ryan, Chella, Sarah, and Mia. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm at Haygood United Methodist Church in Atlanta on Saturday, January 13, 2007. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Leary Bell Doss Finley. Mr. Finley was born in Chambers County, Alabama in 1916 to Dr. Emmett M. and Lola Lee Adams Finley.

He was a graduate of Berry College and John Marshall Law School in Atlanta and received Masters and Specialist degrees in education from the University of Georgia. Mr. Finley was a teacher and principal in public schools for 36 years. He was principal of Armuchee (GA) High School, Valley Point High School and West Side High School in Dalton, GA, Weeksville High School in Elizabeth City, NC and Hogansville (GA) High School. He was a history and political science teacher at Rome High School and West Rome High School, retiring as assistant principal at West Rome.

He also taught at the University of Georgia's off-campus center in Rome and was coordinator of the Elderhostel program at Berry College. He taught adult Sunday School for more than 60 years and was a charter member and Lifetime Deacon of Garden Lakes Baptist Church in Rome, chairing the intial Pastor Search Committee in 1957. Mr. Finley received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Berry College and was named Jaycee Young Man of the Year in Whitfield County in 1947. He was president of the Hogansville Lions Club and the Whitfield County Principals Association.

He was listed in Who's Who in Education and was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association of Rome, the Berry Alumni Association and the Georgia High School Association. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Maxwell (Billy), Brunswick, GA and Pat Heys (Sam), Atlanta; three grandchildren, Rev. Patricia Heys, Atlanta, Sam Heys (Christi), Athens, GA, Elizabeth Heys, Atlanta; two step grandchildren, Dina Bradley, Pensacola, FL, Billie Kersey, Midway, GA; and three step great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Garden Lakes Baptist Church, Thursday, January 4 from 5 to 8 PM with the funeral service to be held Friday, January 5 at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be at Floyd Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by Otis Hazelrigs, her beloved husband of 52 years.

She is survived by her children, Gwendolyn and Easter Bailey of Lawrenceville, Jane and Robert Smith, Alvin and Helen Hazelrigs of Lilburn, Jerry and Pat Hazelrigs of Cleveland; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She has been a member of First Baptist Church of Lilburn since 1928. Maude was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
