Defending champion Novak Djokovic is also back in action on day seven when he faces Italy's Lorenzo Musetti for a place in round four.

Djokovic has endured a tough first half of 2024, failing to reach a final while his spot at the top of the world rankings is under growing pressure from world number two Jannik Sinner, who booked his place in the fourth round on Friday.

The Serb's pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam title continues in the night session on Philippe Chatrier, following straight-set victories against France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena.

Aryna Sabalenka says it will be "tough" to face "best friend" Paula Badosa when they go head-to-head for a place in the French Open fourth round on Saturday.

Australian Open champion Sabalenka, 26, has been in imperious form so far at Roland Garros, losing just seven games across two commanding straight-set wins.

The pair play second on Court Philippe Chatrier.

"She's my favourite," world number two Sabalenka said of Badosa.

"I love her so much. I love to see her play, and she's really a great fighter, so it's always great matches.

"It's always tough to play your best friend on tour, but we know how to manage that, we know how to separate court and life.

"It's always a great battle. I always enjoy playing against her."

Andrey Rublev says his behaviour in his third-round French Open loss - where he slammed a racquet on court and on his knee - was the worst it has been at a Grand Slam.

The sixth seed lost 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 6-4 against world number 35 Matteo Arnaldi of Italy.

Rublev showed signs of agitation at the end of the first set and was warned by the umpire after throwing his racquet to the clay.

The Russian shouted at his team after being broken in the second set and bounced his racquet on the court between Arnaldi serves, drawing ironic cheers from the crowd.

The 26-year-old also hit his knee with his racquet in the third set after kicking his chair on several occasions.

"Completely disappointed with myself with the way I behaved, the way I performed, and I don't remember behaving worse in a slam ever," Rublev said.

"I think it was the first time I have ever behaved that badly."

The British pair were beaten 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-3) by South American duo Sebastian Baez and Thiago Seyboth Wild in the first round.

Murray, 37, says he does not plan on "playing much beyond the summer" and returned to Roland Garros for only the second time since 2017.

The former world number one lost in the first round of the singleson Sunday.

He took a wildcard to play with Evans in the doubles but, after waiting three days to play again because of rain delays, the pair lost in straight sets.
